About Blancpain
Blancpain is one of the most highly revered names in watch history; a company long on history and innovation. Imer Blancpain made watches in the 17th century. His great grandson, Jehan-Jacques Blancpain, born in 1963, now runs the company.
The watch company has continued to make history, for example, prototyping the first automatic winding mechanism in 1926 and achieving two world firsts in 1989: creating the world's slimmest chronograph and the first automatic winding split-second chronograph in watch making history.
In 1970, the watch firm was acquired by SSIH and became part of the Swatch group.
